In our house we all went to the large trackball (Kensington Expert Mouse) that has a scroll ring, quite intuitive once you get the hang of how the ring works. This model is more expensive than many, but worth it, IMO. The one downside is that you can't get the full 4-button functionality while running it through a KVM switch.
