Good day,
In a recent posting entitled, "Add Sound File To MT", MMP had noted, "I rarely use that command. I almost always use library view to add files" ... though I had heard of "Libraries", I really never put "two-and-two" together to see the incredible benefits of employing libraries.
In accessing the necessary HelpFile documentation, references wee made to "Regions". In fact, it would appear that a proper understanding of "regions" may apparently, take precedence over "libraries"? This point may be further born-out by the fact the regions occur before libraries in the HelpFile.
So, my question is simply this, "Should I consider learning about regions first, prior to delving into the learning about libraries?"
Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Library and Regions

Re: Library and Regions
Regions are simply the visual representation of chunks of audio files (wav files usually) in the MT view. They may represent complete wav files, or edited chunks of the original wav files, spread within the tracks/channels and timeline.
Libraries are our access to folders that contain audio/wav files that we may choose to import to the MT.
The difference in importing choices (singly, in groups, etc.) is what separates the library view from the File menu import choices.

Re: Library and Regions
Elaborating on UpTilDawn's description, regions are the mechanism for non-destructive editing. A region is essentially a map coordinate (file_name:beginning_sample:duration) to a particular point within a .wav file. When you edit a region, the underlying audio remains unchanged.

region sharing between edl jobs is done using library views;
hence why we have multiple library windows available depending upon how we set up our FKey views.
It is also possible to import sound files via library window functions; it is where to import multiple audio files into an edl rather than one audio file at a time.
