Hi all,

With SAC-SAW link I can import settings of SAC into SAW, but it only transfers SAC settings itself, but not the plug-ins settings, even for the native ones from RML, like Delay - I wonder if that is possible at all?

Actually, my ultimate goal is to be able to conduct a live event using SAC, while recording the whole show using SAW, including any adjustments applied dynamically via SAC plugins.
So far, I have only managed to record in SAW with imported SAC settings, but all live SAC adjustments not reflected in the recorded multitrack.
Any suggestions?

Until someone else "chimes in " here, I do not believe that what you are attempting to accomplish IS possible!

If I understand things correctly, recording from SAC to SAW, is akin to recording from an analogue mixer to a reel-to-reel tape recorder.

Borrowing the analogy from "The Green Mile"..."Anything that happens on the mile, stays on the mile!"...in the present scenario..."Anything that happens on the mixer, stays on the mixer!"

you can do some of what your asking, but not exactly like your thinking.

SAC/SAW link is not a remote control of Saw Studio, it is an audio link to allow recording of the audio. The generally accepted correct method of live recording would be to record the raw audio and post mix from the raw recorded inputs allowing you to make adjustments in a controlled sound environment and not subject to the anomalies associated with a live venue and mix.

If your using SAC as the front-end to Saw Studio in a studio environment, then you would add your plugins and do you mix in SAW Studio, NOT in SAC (SAC simply becomes the audio input engine and foldback mixer for your headphones or other monitoring needs.

You can set the tap point of the SAW studio audio link to one of three locations as well as record the effects return channels and master outs.

1. Top of the channel strip (default)
2. Pre effects
3. Post fader


Moving the tap point to the 3rd option will let you capture all of the audio as you processed it on each channel (including any channel effects, EQ and fader adjustments).

Just keep in mind that you will be printing the as processed audio and you will not be able to make any post recording changes to those choices. So if you turn the fader on a channel off it will not record any audio. If you add too much reverb that is what will be recorded. etc, etc.

You can record a live stereo mix of anything you do in SAC as a live mix, capturing all SAC moves and processing... assign one of your output busses to one of the eight recording bus choices and then choose that record bus as an input on a SAWStudio track... you will now capture a live stereo mix of what you do in SAC.

At the bottom of page 136 in the SAC manual, Bob makes mention of three different tap points to send the audio to SAWStudio, available in the SAC Mixer menu. Those are Pre ATT, Post ATT, and Pre Fader. Post ATT is checked by default. I wonder if Pre Fader would do what you want?
