SOT: Remove the piezo "quack"!

Good day, I am endeavoring to remove the dreaded piezo "quack" from my current steel strung. * JourneyTek Passive 3-piezo Pickup EP001K * https://journeyinstruments.com/product/ ... ar-pickup/ Employing only the SAC EQ, can someone provide a) a Mix Session file, and|or b) a .cht data file, with the following settings: Cut between .8 and 1.6kHz, to get rid of the nasal tone, and at 5kHz to cut some harsh and brassy tones. Any suggestions would also be greatly appreciated! Thanks. PS: A screen shot of the EQ settings would be find as well!!

Anyone? I have yet to find a simple, user-friendly explanation of EQ...especially for the Neo-neophytes. Often-times when "playing around" - all that I end up doing is producing "feed back". In such situations, I would prefer to receive some feedback - rather than creating the same!

EQ on the channel strip in SAW and SAC is parametric.
.8 to 1.6kHz
1. set the center frequency - since you wanted to cut frequencies between .8 and 1.6kHz, (that would be the center frequency around 1.2kHz)
2. set the BW (or Q) which affects how wide or narrow the filter is going to affect. You probably want to cover a little more than a half octave, so I've set the BW at .6 (if you want to cover a bit more range above and below the center frequency just increased the bandwidth).
3. set the amount of gain. either positive to boost or negative to cut.

Repeat for the 2nd frequency band
5kHz
1. set the center frequency - since you wanted to 5kHz, (that would be the center frequency 5kHz)
2. set the BW (or Q). Here you probably want to keep the BW pretty narrow so I've set the BW at .5 (half an octave). If you want to get more surgical with it, narrow the bandwidth further by making the BW smaller (.4, .3, .2, etc)
3. set the amount of gain. either positive to boost or negative to cut.

Are you using their preamp or at least an active DI?If not, I'd suggest using an active DI as the first step, because 'we'll fix it in the mix' will not always work, especial for piezo pick-ups.

This is a really good point. Definitely need to use a DI/pre-amp tailored for piezo pickups.
