I came across this 5-year-old thread because I would like to achieve the same thing as @TomyN.

Right now, to control the gain of my preamps, I use Avuitran AVS; the preamps are Yamaha AD8HR. But I would be very happy if I could control them from SAC and the Mackie controller.

Is there any software that bridges the gap between SAC and Avuitran at the control level?Even though I leave Avuitran running in the background, it would be perfect if I could monitor the profits without having to switch windows and directly from Mackie. Has anyone managed to do this?

Hi

I'm in touch with Bob.
I think the best way would be using SAC's hardware control interface, because it will take care of synchronisation between host and remote(s) and it would open some nice features for the future of SAC, link including Gain and Phantom into the channel strip or think of midi rotaries controlling the gains ..
As you might have seen in the video linked above, there is a version of TioControl that translates the SAC commands into commands for the TIO1608-D. But I found that the current implementation of the hardware-control interface in SAC is not fully working.
Custom configuration of the hardware control would allow you to adopt the range of gain available or other features to your particular hardware.

I think that the way started with the hardware-control section in SAC is a very nice one. SAC just needs to deliver gain / 48V / pad information via TCP/IP (which is working right now) and external servers will translate that information to the hardware currently used. This would allow SAC to stay hardware - independent but yet customize-able for different kinds of external hardware.

Thank you Tomy!
As I read in your SAC-TIO documentation the reason for SAC32 only is that you do not have the needed information about the SAC64 API?
Are you in touch with Bob that he can maybe provide you with that information necessary for you?
@Bob: I ask friendly if you can support Tomy with the SAC64 programming interface information for his new SAC plugin?

For me SAC64 and well remote controllable DANTE converters are the way I also like to follow.
Even better if the AD-converter settings are saved with the SAC projects.

New release

https://www.satlive.audio/sac/SAC_TIO_1_2.zip

  • Removed obsolete setting from server menu
  • Fixed a bug which blocks communication to TIO in some cases
  • Improved scanning for Tios
  • The archive now contains both server versions (TIOControl32 and TIOControl64), but plugin will work with SAC32 only.
Enjoy

Hi,
  • Yesterday I noticed a bug in the current version of TIOControl, so I'll post a fixed one in a few hours
  • Server (TIOControl.exe) is working and available on request for win64. Did a gig today using the 64bit version.
  • Plugin is available compiled for 64bit. Control itself is working, but store / recall and will not work. I'd need the API specs for SAC64 to adapt that part to SAC64.

Hi Tomy,
thank you for your effort!
It seems it is working with SAC 32-Bit but can't loaded with SAC64. Right?
Do you have plans for the 64-Bit version also?

Best regards
Walter

Hi,

I just packed all files including a short manual and loaded it up to my server. You can find it here.
Use at your own risk!!!

Any reports are welcome.

[LEFT]both pieces of software are created by myself.

Currently neither ther plug-in nor the server are available. It will take some time to get them ready to realease (documentations, final tests).

This video shows a proof of concept using the hardware I/O of SAC and an other version of the server

where to find this native sac plugin, or do you mean the IOIH Control?

Hi,

both pieces of software are created by myself.

There is a nativ sac plugin which controls gain / phantom of up to 64 channels.

And a small external server which takes care of the control of the TIO and of the synchronisation on different instances ( host + remotes).

hello Tommy
what SAC-plugin are you using? and what external server software?

Well, I just did three gigs with the Dante based system. This was a maximum of 32 inputs, up to six monitors, three fx ( 2 times valhalla and a chorus) and a bunch of SAC Eq and Delay plugins.
The performance was similar to the motu system.
Os is windows 8.1
Running on 1/64 without any problem. Dante latency settings are 0.5ms (except for the AES/EBU adapter which can not be set lower than 1 ms) and the latency monitor in Dante shows arround 180us latency ( Using a simple two switch network).
Because my mainboard was quite old (E8600) I'm currently updating to a i3-6320 3900MHz on a asrock B250-M4 Pro board. First tests indicate a significant lower usage ( around 25 % on previous system and around 12 - 15% on the new one), but that's just a bench value.

Hi Tomy,

can you tell us more about the setup?
What is the lowest latency you can go down to?
How many plugins, FX, GEQ, REV, inputs with what PC setup?
Thanx!

Sorry for the confusion.
It's one card. It supports 128 In and 128 Out via Dante.

Pretty sure its just a single card, you wouldn't need more than one for the 3 stage boxes.

I'm currently changing from a motu 2408 based setting to a Dante system.
Currently I'm using up to three TIO1608-D for I/O and a Audinate Dante -> AES Adapter.
I/O is done using Yamaha AIC-128D pci-e (4!!) card.
You can use the Yamaha R-Control. I'm using a SAC-plugin (currently 32 only) and an external server software to control the gains + phantom.
I've also tried the build in HW I/O but it seems not work correctly at the moment (SAC does not recall / manage correctly).

Regards

Tomy
