Awesome,

don't get me wrong I was just curious....and thanx for the detailed answers!

Anyways, isn't that monitoring engineer the same guy that John called an IDIOT?

does the MAIN out - FOH from SAC sound better or worse, using x32 as a soundcard, than when you mix with x32 only....
Is the summing quality inside SAC on par with the summing and separation of the X32?
Also, the question qoes for the EQ/Dynamics ....

Any experience ?
For live applications, you would be hard pressed to hear any difference between almost any modern digital console, but objectively the SAC mix bus is 2nd to none. Its one of the things that made SAW studio a standout in the DAW side of things, and SAC uses the same audio engine, just optimized for live mixing applications.

Edit: To add to this, there are things you can do in SAC you simply can't do on the x32.
SAC has 128 stereo channels with 25 full mixing consoles, so the routing and mix options are simply way more extensive. If I understand the routing on the X32, you have 16 multi-use mono busses that can be configured as main buses, monitor buses, etc. So if you configured 8 stereo in ear mixes, you would have no sub-mix buses for your FOH. SAC has 25 completely separate stereo mixing consoles, that can be configured from cascaded dependent consoles, completely independent consoles including (Gates, Compress, EQ, FX, etc).

SAC has the ability to use VST plugins which the X32 does not, so your FX options in SAC are vast and expandable.

The SAC engine is built on an integer math engine, pretty much all other digital consoles are built on floating point math which have inherent additive rounding errors, not present in the integer math routines.
These errors are small and individually are not audible, but cumulatively they do add up as the mix chain gets longer and more complicated.

Dell,

I assume he means the main out mix bus for FOH. LR or LCR for example. Maybe it has a special name in SAC? I'm not a SAC-er. :p

Redundancy; most people I work with are more comfortable mixing on the X32; and I just want to see if works.

I've had no problems getting my X32 Rack to work with SAWStudio 32/64, so I'd think the driver is fine for SAC.

I was contemplating using SAC to mix mons on if I could get either the X32 ASIO driver to work or a Dante ASIO driver. However, at the moment SAC doesn't appear to like either or I am doing something wrong. It all works fine in Reaper, so not sure what's up.

Anyone compared the SAC mixbus and how the mixer behaves vs x32 or Midas mr18?
any comparison between the EQ, comp, fx and so on?
Have you ever tried to mix on both systems and match the results?

all the best,
Nik
