I am not too sure if what I am about to provide here is applicable to any or not, but I "
guess"...we will just have to wait-and-see?
To being with, I have never been a great typist. Recognizing this
penchant of mine, I became
"rather proficient" at "copying-and-pasting" - and have been apply this "
technique" ever since [20+ years now]!
This "
technique" has demonstrated itself to be successful in many, many configuration processes - one such process being the entering of data for the Control Track Custom Cmds. To best explain this "
technique", the following should suffice...to begin with...
1) There are 52 Custom Cmds entries in total to be entered
2) Of these 52 Custom Cmds entries are what I refer to as:
a) 42 "SACLink Recall Scene By Name Cmds" entries, and,
b) 10 "Non-SACLink Recall Scene By Name Cmds" entries
3) These 52 Custom Cmds entries are to be entered in a specific order
An Example
The following is an example of the first nine entries:
1) SACLink Recall Scene By Name Cmds #1

Observations
1) As can be observed from the above, there are "three sections" in the above listing...
a) SACLink Recall Scene By Name Cmds #1
b) Non-SACLink Cmds #1
c) SACLink Recall Scene By Name Cmds #2
2) Notice however, that the text "Reset Mix [FOH]Start" has "no space" between the right "]" and the "S".
* This omission of the space was purposeful!
* This omission of the space is to ensure that all of the text is selected, via [Ctrl+Right Arrow+Left Arrow]
3) However, and this is an important however, the Non-SACLink Cmds DO contain as space between the two texts.
* The inclusion of the space is again, purposeful!
* This inclusion of the space is to ensure that only the right text is selected, via [Ctrl+Left Arrow 5x]
4) For the Non-SACLink Cmds, the text on the left is merely indicating which of the Built-In Cmds is to be selected for renaming purposes.
* In the present case, it would be the [Cue Location] Built-In Cmds that is being selected.
Entering Custom Cmds
1) For anyone that has worked with the Control Track and the entering of Custom Cmds, there is the [N] parameter and the [P] parameter.
2) Some Cmds required both parameters to be entered [SACLink Cmds], whilst other Custom Cmds require only one parameter to be entered [Non-SACLink Cmds].
3) Considering the first two commands in the [SACLink Recall Scene By Name Cmds #1] section, the text contains two parameters, the left text [Reset Mix [FOH]], and the right text [Start]
* The first parameter [Reset Mix [FOH]], is the [N] parameter.
* The second parameter [Start], is the [P] parameter.
The Procedure [For "SACLink Cmds"]
a) Select-and-copy: "Reset Mix [FOH]Start"
b) Select: [End OF List]
c) For Built-In Cmds, SACLink Recall Scene By Name, N: [paste text]
* The previously selected text is pasted into the [N] parameter text field.
d) Select-and-cut only the text: Start [Ctrl+Shift+Left Arrow]
* Employ: [Ctrl+X] for the cut
e) Select: [Enter]
f) For [P], select: [Ctrl+V]
* The previously cut text is pasted into the [P] parameter text field.
g) Select: [Enter]
h) Select: [Enter]
* The "Enter Control Track Cmd Information"... dialog is exited.
The Procedure [For "Non-SACLink Cmds"]
a) Select-and-copy: "Call Session [Name]"
b) Select: [End OF List]
c) For Built-In Cmds, Cue Location, N: [paste text]
d) Select: [Enter]
h) Select: [Enter]
* The "Enter Control Track Cmd Information"... dialog is exited.
In closing...
1) Though the above process may initially "
appear" to be a rather arduous process, this process ensures a) a degree of consistency and b) accuracy - at least to me anyhow, in the data that is required to be entered.
2) Again, for "
one-offs", this process would indeed be arduous. However, for multiple entries - such as that involved here,
this process is indeed, very efficient!
