This past weekend, a friend and I were hired to provide PA and Streaming mixes for a large, complicated church service. Two choirs, soloists, piano, drums, multiple clergy, readers, etc. The client was a video guy who had multiple cameras and really made the event look great.
The client uses Dante for feeding PA and monitor speakers and has the Yamaha DM3 mixer with Dante. He uses a Virtual Dante Soundcard in his video computer to get the mix from the DM3 and just got the Yamaha 16-channel Dante stagebox. He suggested I download the VDS so I could mix the stream audio in SawStudio Live or SAC. We couldn't get the stagebox to connect reliably to the DM3 (and the AI support bot hung up on us after 15 or 20 minutes), so we ran analog snakes to the DM3 and my friend gave me his iPad to do the streaming mix as a second output from the DM3. Worked out fine.
Here's my question: While I was playing with the VDS in the days before the event, I couldn't figure out how to select the VDS in SS for inputs, but use one of my RME interfaces to provide a headphone output. Under Options | Audio Driver Model | ASIO Protocol, when I choose an audio driver for any interface, the previous choice is changed to the new choice and the box disappears.
Any ideas on how to feed the headphones directly from SS? I realize now that I could have fed a headphone amp from a pair of DM3 outputs, but the question remains.
(I did several different forum searches, but couldn't find anything related.)
Thanks.
