so been away from SAC by way of x32 rack for quite some time.. FINALLY convinced my people to let me do the SAC rig thing. So since i've been away I have some questions now that i'm sac 64...

1) soooo sad to see no more native reverb. What's the go to now for a light cpu reverb that sounds good?
2) did anything ever become of the montarbo input box? or am I going to remove my dozen 8200's from mothball status?
3) whats the goto resource editor so I can make my own shade?
4) opinions.. i'm not sure about keeping the motu 2408 / 424pci-e as my connection since they are no longer made. what do you all say about the motu LP32 vs the RME digiface?

Nice to see you back! May we ask what has transpired since then?

I will seen what I can do...

1) The Valhalla Reverbs are more than satisfactory...as noted.

NO CPU load with any of the verbs as I have noted.

2) The montarbo input box?

I do believe "dead".

3) Resource Editor - as noted...big job however.
4) MOTU seems have a good "rep" here...but the RME "stuff" is - in my estimation, is a "no brain-er".

PS: Are you willing to sell any of the ADA's?

Wow sooo much has transpired. Most importantly I started a nonprofit called Frets4Vets. We take vets and active duty military with PTSD or depression and teach them coping mechanisms through musical instrument instruction. One of the main things we do for fundraising, or at least pre-covid we did, is concerts. As a sound engineer I HATED doing them with x32 but it's what passed riders. Now I care less about riders and more about comfort and flexibility.

As for the Ada's I'm gonna use all of them. I'm making a "travel" and a "home" rig. That way I can bring my PC rack to practice with my band, but also have a "gig" and "fundraiser" rack setup as well. If I stick with my motu setup I can also then use a full 48 inputs for the bigger stuff.. till I win the lottery

I have done shades for the 3.1 I have so I'm familiar with the pain that is, so much so I settled on glass houses for my use back then lol.

You might consider to switch to Dante. I'm running a yamaha AIC128D in my SAC pc and use (up to) three TIO1608 interfaces.
I programmed a gain remote SAC plug in, which currently will work only with the 32bit version (still waiting for the 64 bit SAC api documentation (at least the headers)). Did a POC of interfacing with SACs hardware interface also.

Dante gives me some nice benefits over my previous MOTU system, like the option to add I/Os were you'll need it. I/O on FoH -> no Problem, AES/EBU output -> no problem and so on.

I will likely do something like that, or with a behringer s32 and the kt box at some point.. we're a non-profit so for right now we work with what we've got as the budget is "less than zero" lol
there's really never any need for FOH outputs with us as 99.9% of time that's just a guy walking around with a MS Surface for quick adjustments.

I've done basically the same thing with MOTU 8M interfaces. I'm still running ADAT out of the 8Ms to an RME RayDAT in the computer, but the MOTU 8M units are also AVB and I can do a full digital split and put I/O pretty much anywhere I need it. If I could find a good windows thunderbolt solution I'd likely drop the RME card, but for now this solution is rock solid and still gives me lots of flexibility.

So, just stay with Motu. I've been using a motu based system (2408, 24i, 1024 with ADA8200) for approx 8 years (and run a small snake from stage to FoH for headphone and talkback), and the only problems I've got were bad output plugs (due to storing in a non heated warehouse).

I have not used MOTU so cannot compare based on experience. I do currently use the RME Digiface USB. It is compact and works well with up to four ADA8200's. RME drivers are ace.

that's why I was asking. Before my MOTU rig I used RME HDSP card and I swear it was better performance than my motu 424. Going usb kinda made sense as I could have a backup laptop or pc to save a show.. since most shows are fundraisers i'd hate to be without a pa lol
