Solo/Cue follows monitor mixer output
Hi everyone!
First time posting! I'm very interested in SAC's monitor mix capabilities.
I've been working through the demo and have a quick question.
Does SAC allow for the MON solo/cue function to follow the selected "monitor mixer"?
Common example is using SAC as the monitor engineer and needing to quickly hear/cue a specific mix (once the specific mix has been chosen) without needing to hit the actual SOLO button on the output bus.
Thanks for any help!
Great product!

Nicholas,
Firstly, "Welcome to the Forum!" We hope that you will enjoy your stay?
Secondly, someone is always available here to assist you.
Thirdly, to answer your questions "Does SAC allow for the MON solo/cue function to follow the selected 'monitor mixer'?"
Again, Nicholas, "Welcome".
PS: If you do plan to "stay on" - and we hope that you do, please ensure that you complete your profile settings, and tell us a little about yourself.

- As to "How"?...one for the more experienced folk will have to chime-in here.
Again, Nicholas, "Welcome".

Re: Solo/Cue follows monitor mixer output
Yes the output to the solo bus follows the selected mix, so if you select a mix that is setup to be a monitor mix, that's what you'll be hearing.Nicholas R wrote:Hi everyone!

The only little annoyance i find with the SAC solobus and listening to monitor mixes is when you pan the master fader hard left or right to send the mix to only one physical output. When you do that and have the tap point set to "after fader" the sound on the solobus is also panned! To get around that I do the panning with a plugin patched post fader. It's no big deal but it's something to be aware of if you're listening on a wedge and can only hear half of the monitor mixes :-)

Re: Solo/Cue follows monitor mixer output
Thank you, Peter!
Do I need to set a preference to do this?
Currently to test I've assigned the solo bus to a specific output which works when I solo anything.
Yet the solo doesn't follow selected monitor mixer choice.
Apologies for the newbie challenges.
Thanks Peter!

Re: Solo/Cue follows monitor mixer output
there are two solo busses
1. FOH
2. Monitor
You have to set the Monitor Buss to the output channel you want to monitor through. Both FOH and Monitor buss can be routed to the same output channels.

Nicolas,
Do you happen to have a copy of the SAC User Manual? [Click_Me]?
As stated on page 14 of the PDF version, in the section entitled, "2.3.5 Using Online Help",
"The SAC helpfile is carefully written and very useful once you spend some time with it. In fact, it is strongly recommended that you take a couple hours to read (or at least browse) the entire file using the Next and Previous links on the helpfile toolbar. The time you'll spend reading the helpfile will easily be made up for when you find your sessions are requiring less and less time because you've expanded your knowledge base of the program and can move much quicker."
Also, see page 38, "Solo Light" for further information.

Any other info would be helpful.

Re: Solo/Cue follows monitor mixer output
If you click the solo master switch at the top of interface, the current mixer master is soloed... as you switch to a different mixer the solo live chases... so you can instantly solo any mixer master output and hear what each mix sound like and make adjustments.

Re: Solo/Cue follows monitor mixer output
Hi everyone,
All is working great although I'm having a bit of trouble with the "SOLO FX" for the MON bus.
Works great when assigning FX to the FOH solo bus, but I don't seem to be getting any signal with the MON Solo FX.
I'm sure it's operator error on my behalf. Thanks for any help!
p.s. I've tried to update my profile info here, yet could also use some guidance on how to create a "signature" for my posts here.
Thanks!

Re: Solo/Cue follows monitor mixer output
The MON solo bus is only available when there is a remote connected... otherwise only the FOH solo bus is active.

Re: Solo/Cue follows monitor mixer output
I am running a monitor mix as the audio source for a video stream. I would like to be able to solo a channel or multiple channels on my remote computer for the appropriate monitor mix. I’ve tried every setting I can think of. When I solo a channel, the FOH and all other monitor mixers mute out. I have the solo output device set appropriately. Right now I am having to mute everything but what I want to monitor.Bob L wrote:If you click the solo master switch at the top of interface, the current mixer master is soloed... as you switch to a different mixer the solo live chases... so you can instantly solo any mixer master output and hear what each mix sound like and make adjustments.

In MIXER -> SOLO MODE checke the SOLO IN PLACE setting (at the bottom of the menu)
3 * TIO1608 + AIC-128 + X-Touch + Dante -> AES + DADC-144DT

I'm not understanding the question. You say when you solo a channel the FOH and all other monitor mixers mute out and that you are muting everything but what you want to monitor.
What are you expecting to happen? How are you monitoring the FOH/Monitor mixes if they are not Soloed?
There shouldn't be any audio running through your solo bus except for channels that are actively being soloed.

Re: Solo/Cue follows monitor mixer output
There are many solo options in SAC... your solo switches should not normally affect other output chans so you are free to solo anywhere without affecting FOH or monitor outputs if the options are used as designed.
You should not be using the Solo In Place option if you are using the console as a live console... that option is only useful in a studio environment.
Read the solo option details in the helpfile Navigation/Main View and also the solo options in the Mixer menu near the bottom.
You should be using a Pre or Post solo mode or one of the combined modes.
When you press a solo button the signal will be routed to your chosen outputs for FOH operator as well as the MON operator.
You can also press the main solo lite at the top of the main window to monitor the master output of the current mixer and this will chase as you switch to a different mixer and is specifically designed to allow you to instantly hear any mixers mix and make adjustments.
