Simple Wav/Mp3 Player VST

Post by TomyN »

Hi,
I'm looking for a real simple player which can play wav (mp3 would be nice) as a plug-in for SAC
3 * TIO1608 + AIC-128 + X-Touch + Dante -> AES + DADC-144DT

SATlive is my measurement software

Tomy,

I developed one some time ago called "SAC Wavefile Player" - sadly only 32-bit.

There is only one that I currently know of that "works" with SAC and that is vstPlayer from Mirax Labs [Click_Me]
  • Currently at v2.3.3 and has not been updated since 2016
  • Has some minor issues with screen updates when using scenes
  • Supports: WAV/AIFF/FLAC/OGG/MP3
  • Demo available, sells for £9.99 GBP/$12.70 USD

Hope this helps?

Tomy,

I also absolutely hate runtimes!!!!

You stated, "But working fine on the demo system in my office". Wow! Someone after my own heart!

Just for interest, this application employs the use of JUCE...which has minor issues with SAC.
* I know this is purely speculation on my part, but there are quite a number of digital audio
software "developers" that employ the use of JUCE - with their software experiencing similar issues to that of vstPlayer.
* I often wonder what actual "programing experience" such folks have?
* I used SynthEdit to develop the SAC Wavefile Player...all without having to know any programming whatsoever.

If you have a PCI interface like an RME card you can connect the motherboard audio directly to the card internally and use Windows Media Player.

Unfortunately the AIC-128 (128 Channel Dante I/O Card) does not support analog audio :-(

Yes but it doesn't actually have to be a plugin if it accomplishes the same thing.

Hi,
used it (registered version) yesterday for the first time for checks and intro music.
- With a remote connected I've noticed a few audible distortions for about half of second, producing a lot (total approx. 200) dropped samples. Did not control from remote, but DLL is present on remote also.
- With out remote (showtime) it works like a charm. No audible problems, no dropped buffers for over an hour.
-> I'll keep it, but if possible will avoid using it for 'mission critical' things like playbacks.

Tomy,

Do you have SAW? Then why not use SAC/SAW "in tandem"? Best combo that I have ever seen or worked with.

And, along with the Control Track and Show Control - you have available at your fingertips an incredible amount of "flexibility" and control.
  • For your interest, I have written a fairly in-depth text on this topic.
Update!!
Tomy, again for your interest, I can show you how to launch both SAC-then-SAW...with SAW displaying a Show Control view, then automatically launching the "Open Show Control File" command. Though I have never attempted this scenario, both SAC and SAW are "remotely-capable"...so all of this work should be able to be managed remotely.

Operationwhat,

Just tested it out here, and all is OK!

Maybe you have the Output set to "Mono"?
