'Ain't new hardware a "drag"?

Post by mr_es335 »

Good day,
I hope that the day finds you well!

I recently had to perform an "up-gradable downgrade" to a laptop-based system, due to "weighty concerns" of my previous system.

My laptop of preference is always Lenovo, thus I acquired a 2018 Lenovo P51.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-7th Gen, 2.9Ghz
RAM: 16GB ofDR4
Video: Integrated Intel HD630
Discreet: nVidia Quadro M2200
SSD: 512MB M.2 PCIe
Note: This unit has the capability of 2x, M.2 PCIe and 1x, 2.5 SSD.

Anyhow, I have a very particular "routine that I go through when setting up a new system. Thus, when problems arise, it can be a rather frustrating experience...which I am sure most can sympathize with.
* This particular situation had to do with the "discreet" video affecting the Fabfilter plugins.
* In such situations, ensure that "Hybrrid Graphics" is enabled in the BIOS. This option permits the selection between the two available video options - that is, integrated or discreet.

Anyhow, not to bore anyone with the specific details, I find it imperative to have a specific installation procedure employed, so that when situations do arise [...as they most certainly will...], you are in a much more lucrative position to "back-trace" where the specific error, or errors, have/has occurred.

I hope this information will be of some practicable use?

Thank you for your time...appreciated!
