Stereo Problem
For some reason, my Sawstudio is playing in stereo through the headphone output and mono through the main and playback outputs. I'm using a Behringer UMC204HD. The problem only occurs with SS.
Re: Stereo Problem
Have you by chance set the output to mono?Pedro V wrote:For some reason, my Sawstudio is playing in stereo through the headphone output and mono through the main and playback outputs. I'm using a Behringer UMC204HD. The problem only occurs with SS.

Re: Stereo Problem
Is the audio for the phones coming on the same output channel? Ie Output track 1
If so, it nearly has to be external to saw.

Re: Stereo Problem
that's the only place directly in SAW that you could set anything to mono on the outputs. There really has to be something going on external to SAW.Pedro V wrote:cgrafx, no
jmh, yes
When you say it only happens in SAW, what else are you using to output to the interface?

Re: Stereo Problem
Possible, but only if the headphones are getting a mix from a different output from SAW. I do believe the poster indicated the headphone mix is from the output mix, so there has to be something else going on in the behringer interface.jmh wrote:Only other possibility is post fx on OT.

Re: Stereo Problem
If I play through the Behringer from Windows Media Player Classic, or from Firefox with YouTube, there's no problem. Or from SS with headphones, it works fine. It's crazy; it happens in any session.
Re: Stereo Problem
It is possible/probable that saw is using a different input channel pair or different driver model like asio to
access it than the windows applications.
But there is no 'saw' driver setting that can impact that.

Re: Stereo Problem
Also wanted to mention that my behringer air18 has good drivers so the uphoria may also. My model has many features and settings so it is likely hidden there
Re: Stereo Problem
I'll keep checking. I'll try a different interface. I'm using Windows 7, and I've tried it on another PC with Windows 10, and the problem persists.jmh wrote:Also wanted to mention that my behringer air18 has good drivers so the uphoria may also. Re: Stereo Problem
Consider trying a test fresh install of SAWStudio to a C:\Test folder... there could be a default mix template or setting that you may have set in the past or by accident causing the problem... in a fresh test install pick your souncard and simply place a single stero wav file on track 1 and see if that plays back as stereo... then we can troubleshoot your main install to find the problem.

And how did you solve it???Pedro V wrote:Thanks Bob, problem solved.
Don't leave everybody hangin' !
Re: Stereo Problem
What you make me do. I'll make a long story short. It's a bit resentful, because the problem wasn't with the SS or the Behringer. The problem was with a mixer I use in my mixing room, and after switching it for another mixer, the problem persisted because one of them is having issues and is operating in mono, even though the VU meters say otherwise. The other had the rear button marked "Mono" activated. Don't ask me why I thought I was hearing the music from the other sources in stereo. Anyway, both mixers caused confusion.UpTilDawn wrote:And how did you solve it???

Thanks everyone, and sorry for my clumsiness.
Re: Stereo Problem
By the way, Bob, I'd like to take this opportunity to ask, Why don't I appear on the forum as a Sawstudio user? That would be nice.

You are very brave and generous to give the details.Pedro V wrote:What you make me do. I'll make a long story short. It's a bit resentful, because the problem wasn't with the SS or the Behringer. I just dislike finding threads, when I am searching for solutions, that are left hanging.
Suspense is great in a good espionage film... not so much in forum searches.

Re: Stereo Problem
There is no shame in having a problem elude you. Configurations can be confusing an it is easy to overlook things. I doubt that anyone here has not has similar problems - in my case, repeatedly...UpTilDawn wrote:You are very brave and generous to give the details.
