Slipped Output Buffer

I can't get a stable system with a 64-sample buffer. I always get buffer slippage, even without processing anything. To avoid buffer slippage, I have to configure the Asio driver At a minimum of 256 samples. This generates more latency. What can I do?

My interface is a Digigram LX646es. Any ideas?

have you tried setting the force realtime priority option in the options menu.... also, make sure to set the desktop starting icon to start as administrator... these options may help force the program to run above many of the background programs running in Windows all the time.

Thanks for replying, Bob. Yes, I have all that sorted. The problem I'm having is that sometimes the session runs fine without any buffer slippage. And other times I get thousands of buffer slippages. And I don't know why.

any particular plugins being used when you get all the slippage? Some plugins will need a higher buffer setting based on any latency introduced.

No Bob, when it happens, it just happens. Even with all channels disabled and without activating the EQ or SAC dynamics.

The problem is that it happens suddenly and the slippage starts nonstop. And I have to restart SAC.

Based on your symptoms/description, there has to be something else running on the system like Virus software or other similar application that is running on a schedule of some kind.

The next time this happens open the Task Manager and see what other processes are running.

I've checked it too, and there are no tasks. I don't know what's wrong with my system, but it's a problem.

Today I had to remove my SAC system after testing and use an M32 that was available at the theater. I'll do more testing during the week to see how it works.

Also if you are not running SAC from an administrator account "force realtime priority" SAC may not actually be elevated above the other tasks.

What's going on is not directly a SAC problem, some other process is stepping on SAC's audio engine.

This week, being more relaxed at home, I'll look at the tasks, but honestly, there wasn't a single task that even reached 0.6%.

As for the hardware, it might be time to upgrade my machine; I'm using an old Intel i5 2500, 16GB of RAM, and a Sandisk SSD.

Interface Digigram LX6464es, Via ethersound with Yamaha Ad8hr preamps.

The problem I had today during the sound check was very curious. Buffer slippage didn't appear, but there was a clicking noise only when something was playing on any channel.
Eventually, SAC would keep closing on its own. I had 24 channels open with a maximum CPU usage of 35%. I always open SAC as administrator. After SAC closed on its own 3 times in less than 10 minutes, I have chosen to remove my system and use the Midas M32 of the Theatre.

I use Windows 10, it is fully optimized and all settings are as described in the manual.

Tasks don't have to use a lot of CPU power to step on the audio engine.

Age of the system is not really an issue. My live sound rig was built 10+ years ago and is still running winXP.

So if I am understanding correctly this is a system that has been working for a while, and now is exhibiting the slipped buffers.

What has changed, did you do any system updates, are you running any Anti Virus software on the system?

Other things to check.

- integrity of the SSD drive
- Motherboard Battery
- do a full RAM test
- remove and reseat the Digigram card in the PCI slot

I'm starting to think the problem is either with the Digigram interface or the ASIO driver itself. If I internally mix the routing from Reaper to SAC, the problems disappear.

Is it possible that the Digigram interface, which is PCI, is not receiving enough electrical current?

Does anyone know how I could run tests in this area to find my problem?

It-s a good utility to check ram sometimes
