ah, OK now I see that I would seldom use "Snapshot Chan Settings to MT Automation" because I most often write automation offline or use Automation Gallery.
If I was using a control surface, I'd likely use that more often.

I've used it on projects like a live concert recording, where each song needs "a new start," a place from which to begin automation offsets, etc., again. I'll do an automation snapshot to every track at the start of every song. And the flow and continuity of the show remain intact.
