Intermittent web-site failure

Post by jmh »

I am intermittently encountering: Content Encoding Error

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.
Error code: 503
  • Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

...anyone else?

The reason I ask is I have most scripting etc. blocked, so it may be on my end. When it fails, it fails consistently for a while. But then other times, it works fine. I haven't been able to decern a pattern, but it seems like there may be one like top of the hour (I thought it may have been early in the day - but here it is morning in NY). Possibly it is more reliable if the browser is already logged in.

UPDATE:

I have stayed logged in on this browser (firefox on mac), and it has been able to render the page each time I have tried. My cell phone (duchduckgo app - which does not have noscript running) is not logged in and cannot display the forum.

Update 2:

The mac login probably timed out. 10 minutes ago neither the phone nor mac can access site. 11:07 PM, both can.

Update 3:

3:40PM:

--------8:25 AM EST --------- neither device can access page. The phone***8217;s dudckduckgo app reports differently:

Net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE

Same here.
I thought I'd found solutions twice in the last couple of months. But after losing access two days ago and suddenly getting back on just now, after having done nothing, I can't say that my previous "fixes" were even temporary solutions, or workarounds of any kind.

I asked Bob in an email last week, if he had any ideas, but have not gotten a response. (I hope all is well on his home front.)

And then I lost it again, before I got it back again tonight......

Interesting read, jmh.
The issue as I've experienced it has been on and off for at least a few months, with a long period of weeks without access at the beginning of it all...

I might make the suggestion that such would be a question directly for Bob!

I am chasing down the issue... making adjustments trying to find a solution.

You must be making progress, Bob.

I was off again this morning - with an entirely different message.
But I'm on again - (obviously).

Thanks for your efforts, Bob!
