Voice Gravel reduction

Hey gang, it's been a while since I've posted.
Kinda like, "long time listener, first time caller" thing in on the radio.

I had a chance to work with Kathy Garver (for those old enough, Cissy on Family Afair).
She came in for some ADR on a cheesy super hero movie. The director kept saying he
wanted a lower voice, and her lower voice had some substantial gravel in it. I thought
it worked because she was supposed to be a 1,000 year old vampire in a 30 something
year old body.

Now, the director wants me to find a way to smooth out her voice. I've been looking
on-line but all I can find for Voice Enhancement is noise reduction stuff. I have RX and
will try a few of those tools, but I don't know if there's anything that will do what he's
asking.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have Steinberg SpectraLayers?

It has a bunch of "unmix" modules that go way beyond stem separation. Probably much further than I've even explored, with some clever use of different modules on different stems, too.

There's some promising starting points, with:
Unmix noisy speech,
components,
crowd noise,
levels, besides the usual stem stuff.

I use both RX and SL on the various live multitracks recordings I've done.
SL goes pretty deep.
They must have a trial version?
