[newbie] How to record in Mono?

Post by Bodo B »

Hello, my first post here, so first of all hello to everyone!

I'm currently testing SAWstudio and I can't figure out how to tell MT to record a mono track. Or does it always record in stereo?

Any help appreciated, I've read the manual but haven't found what I'm looking for.

Have a nice day!

when you arm a track for recording and the meter pops up.... click the INPUT zone and there you have options for selecting the actual input device and chan you are recording from... use the Mono options for a mono recording.

This info can be found in detail in the helpfile or manual in the Ready To Record section.

This may be helpful:

Micro has a link to several videos too.

Thank you very much, this is helpful. I think I understand the basic setup. One problem is that in one of my demo songs I cannot define the input (in Mono / Stereo Devices) bc. everything is greyed out. If I open a new session everything is fine and I can choose my inputs as I like.

Any ideas why input are greyed out? JMH wrote: "Make sure the font is solid for the selected device - otherwise (grayed) it will not be a valid (or working) input."

How do I make sure the font is solid? Audio setup seems to be ok, I'm on ASIO Protocol with Steinberg UR22, and Wave Device Out 01 in Audio Device Setup shows exatly that. Also SAW records a stereo file when I hit REC, although everything is greyed out.

Sorry, stupid beginner questions, I know. I'm reading the manual right now from top to end, so I'm sure I will get there. But I couldn't wait and was eager to try SAW out...

Thanks

OK, I understand. The inputs were greyed out because they were already activated. I didn't see the little light grey check mark in front of them.

OK, now I'll read the manual...

Thanks
